ISLAMABAD: Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) demanded submission of a report on Tuesday regarding the status of the alleged Pakistan Television (PTV) and Parliament attacks.
The proceedings of the PTV and Parliament attacks case were conducted under Judge Kausar Zaidi with appearances from Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s (PTI) leaders Asad Umar, Arif Alvi and Ejaz Ahmad Chaudhry in the court.
Justice Zaidi was informed that Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) Chairman Tahir-ul-Qadri, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Pervez Khattak and PTI leader Jahangir Tareen were absconders in the case. He directed the defense counsel to submit a report detailing the accused so that the case proceedings can be carried out uninterrupted.
The PTI chief Imran Khan had earlier filed an exemption plea, on which the government’s counsel has requested for time in order to prepare arguments.
The case has been adjourned till March 27.
The anti-government protests by PAT and PTI supporters attacked state institutions PTV and the Parliament on August 31, 2014 resulting in the death of three protestors and hundreds wounded when countered by the police.
