ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief Justice (CJ) Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday dismissed the petition regarding contempt of court against Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders Saad Rafique, Ahsan Iqbal and Ameer Maqam.
According to details, the petitioner Mehmood Akhtar Naqvi stated that the accused persons had attempted contempt of court in public rallies. They called the court ‘biased’ and also called the court as ‘Godfather’, he added.
CJ replied that this could not be considered contempt of court .The court should be unbiased and neutral.
In an interesting conversation between the CJ and the petitioner, Naqvi said that the accused had said in his speech that Bhutto’s death sentence was legal. He also said that Nehal Hashmi had also attempted contempt of court.
Replying to this, the CJ said that they had taken notice of it. Hashmi is already in trouble, added the CJ making everyone smile.
Naqvi said he wanted to be part of the trial against Hashmi. CJ replied that his voluntary services were not needed anymore.
Naqvi also accused Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif of attempting contempt of court by saying that the Judges and the generals had not done any justice to this country.
CJ put an end to the case, saying that actually no one had done any justice to this country. We could have been in a better state, if we had fulfilled our responsibilities, he concluded
