TEHRAN/ISLAMABAD: Iran’s Foreign Minister Muhammad Javad Zarif will arrive in Pakistan for a three-day official visit tomorrow (Sunday).
Iranian news agency IRNA quoted Iranian Ambassador to Islamabad Mahdi Honardoost as saying that Javad Zarif’s three-day visit is taking place following official invitation of his Pakistani counterpart Khawaja Asif.
He added that Zarif was scheduled to meet with President Mamnoon Hussain, Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and other dignitaries.
Zarif will also hold meeting with Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa. He will leave for Karachi on Tuesday from where he will return to Tehran.
The visiting Iranian foreign minister would also hold bilateral talks with Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif on various issues of mutual interests, regional situation with emphasis on Afghanistan and exploring the ways and means to further expand the cooperation in various areas.
During the talks with Pakistani leadership, they said that the two sides would also discuss the possibilities of cooperation in connectivity projects under China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
The Iranian foreign minister is also scheduled to give a lecture on 70 Years of Pakistan-Iran Relations & Future Prospects on Monday at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad.
