MANCHESTER: United academy graduate and Belgium international attacker Adnan Januzaj’s Manchester United career came to an end on Wednesday after he signed with Spanish side Real Sociedad.
Real Sociedad finished sixth in the Spanish league last season, Januzaj made 66-senior club appearances and scoring five goals during the period.
He made a bright start to his Manchester United career, making his debut in the win against Wigan Athletic in the Football Association Community Sheild in 2013 and was touted to cement his place in the united side for the future after he famously scored a brace against Sunderland under Scottish coach David Moyes who also happens to be Real Sociedad’s former manager.
Under Louis Van Gaal, the young forward had less opportunities, and was loaned to Borrussia Dortmund in the Dutch manager’s second season in charge, where the Belgian failed to make much of his chances and most of his appearances came from the bench.
Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, who himself was tasked with taking the Manchester club back to its former glory allowed Januzaj to spend last season on loan at Sunderland after which the Belgian has taken the decision to move to the San Sebastian.
Januzaj thanked his teammates and club staff and managers and admitted that his Manchester United career did not turn out to be as expected stating the love for this club would always be in his heart.
