KARACHI: Kidnappers of newborn babies had connections with some of security guards posted in government hospitals. The gang, having strong network of kidnapers in Punjab, sells babies for Rs 100,000 to Rs 150,000,revealed a member of the gang during interrogation.
Police on Friday had recovered an abducted newborn baby boy who was kidnapped from Qatar Hospital on Thursday and claimed to have busted a gang comprising 11 members including 6 women, involved in kidnapping of newborn babies particularly from the city hospitals.
The newborn baby boy of Pervez, resident of Baldia Town, was kidnapped from Qatar Hospital hours after he was born in the hospital.
According to the father of kidnapped infant, Pervez, a woman, Musarrat, dressed as doctor was with his wife and mother at the hospital meanwhile she fed something to his wife which deteriorated her condition and taking the advantage of the situation the woman took away the baby from a grandmother and disappeared.
The police acting on the complaint of victim family started investigation and finally traced and arrested the woman from Orangi Town area.
Orangi Division SP Hassan Sardar Niazi said that CCTV footage obtained from hospital helped police in tracing and arresting a woman adding that the police have busted the gang involved in kidnapping of newborns.
Police officials said that the arrested woman, Musarrat, had sold the newborn to Nazia for Rs 10, 000 who later sold the Child with the help of a middleman, Matiullah, to a couple for Rs 135,000.
The police officials have written a letter to the Punjab authorities for action against the members of the gang hiding in Punjab province.
