Targeted Killing of Policemen in Quetta leave one dead, another injured

QUETTA: Unidentified assailants targeted policemen leaving one dead and the other injured in the area of Shalkot, Quetta.

Miscreants opened fire at the policemen on their way to Hazara Town. As per reports the assailants escaped before the police and law enforcement agencies came to the crime scene. An investigation has been launched to probe into the act of terrorism against the policemen protecting the Hazara community.

The injured policeman is under treatment at Balochistan Medical Complex, whereas no claim has been made for the responsibility of the attack till now.

The targeted killings of policemen continue to rise in Quetta. On February 28, two policemen were martyred during an attack on the Deputy Superintendent of police (DSP) Hameedullah Dasti on Samungli road. However, rescue officials claimed that the DSP and driver were left unharmed as the pickup was bullet-proof.

On February 14, four soldiers of Frontier Corps (FC) were targeted and martyred near Sariab Road in Quetta. Similar killings of policemen were carried out by unidentified assailants in the month of January leaving three policemen dead.
