Training on hygiene for media persons initiated at private school

KHYBER AGENCY: A day long awareness training session on hygiene for the local media persons was initiated in a private educational institution of Piro Khel area of tehsil Landi Kotal last day.

The activity was organized under the auspices of Center of Excellence for Rural Development (CERD) and numbers of members of Landi Kotal Press Club and teachers of private school were among the participants.

Dr Asad imparted the attendants of knowledge pertaining of airborne and waterborne diseases like diarrhea and diphtheria, pneumonia and tuber clauses. The trainer educated the participants of symptoms and necessary precaution measures to be taken to avoid of getting the fatal diseases. The trainees were practically trained of hygienic and cleanness procedures that caused 75% of diseases and stressed upon them to educate their other tribal colleagues of the importance of the hygiene and neatness.

At the concluding session MNCH program, coordinator Javed Afridi, said that mortality rate of mother during delivery in the world is 50 in one lakh cases while in Pakistan this rate is 37. CERD is welfare organization that facilitates masses freely in numbers of people welfare projects including mother and child health care.

He further added that with assistance of UNICEF and health department a health project had been initiated and 12000 pregnant mothers had been registered in war tore Bara tehsil of Khyber Agency and in short period of ten months 11237 women were granted antenatal and postnatal facilities.

Afridi said that 28737 children had been provided basic nutritious food beside thousands of neonates had been provided new baby kits and approximately one million families were supplied with Oral Re-hydration (ORS).

He urged upon the trainees to convey the massage regarding mother-child care to other residents of Landi Kotal.
