Oscars 2018: Best dressed at the red carpet

Author: Eeshah Omer

The Oscars every year give way to one of fashion’s biggest nights and the majority of the female population to gossip about the best and worst dresses of all time. Whether its pale creams, cherry reds, salmon pinks, royal blues or anything grey with a sparkle of silver, it’s always a must for us women to draw inspiration from the best of the new season.

This time around, from Sofia Vergara playing it safe in black to Jennifer Garner adding a pop of royal blue, Hollywood’s leading ladies stole the spotlight donning elegant and stunning creations. Here’s a rundown of who made the cut for the biggest glam at the Oscars 2018.

Sofia Vergara

The 45-year-old star stepped out for the night in a black off-the-shoulder gown by Ralph & Russo, caped with an overlay with intricate embellishment all over. The actress finished off her look with silver drop earrings and bright, bold red lipstick. Her hair took a beachy turn, embossed in the much appropriate volume needed to turn heads at the event.

Jennifer Garner

Jennifer Garner graced the occasion in a perfect knock-out from the rest of the crowd. She slipped into a cobalt blue gown by Atelier Versace, as she went for the sensational old-time kind of glamour, wearing her long blown out brunette hair with a far side parting and added 18-carat white gold earrings.

Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence welcomed her JLaw style opting for a glittery gold ensemble from Dior’s recent Pre-Fall collection. Not only did her full-blown glamour gown mark a departure from the soft, neo-bridal dresses she went for in previous years, but by choosing a piece designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri, one of the few female creative heads of a major fashion house, Lawrence was definitely up for making a subtle statement on female empowerment. Jennifer showcased ahead of sunkissed beachy waves that contrasted gloriously with her grungy, exaggerated eyeliner.

Margot Robbie

Robbie arrived at the Oscars 2018 red carpet in a dazzling white floor-length Chanel couture, paired with Roger Vivier heels. Her dress embellished with big crystals like diamonds, along with a pared-down makeup look and minimal jewelry, inspired by supermodels of the 1990s came as no surprise, given the recent announcement of her as the new ambassador for the storied French fashion house. Her sharp bob with the entire getup made for an astonishingly chic result.

Whoopi Goldberg

Our fashion favourite of the evening, however, had to be Whoopi Goldberg, who stepped the red carpet like a boss in a voluminous floral off-the-shoulder gown by Christian Siriano. The belted number certainly had a royal attitude to it, giving life to her revealing tattoos splattered in sprays of yellow and purple. Adding her own cheeky touch to her personal style, she dropped it like its hot with the dark sunglasses trend.

Because if Whoopi can’t, who else even can?
