LAHORE: The case of contempt of court against the Information Secretary and Secretary of PEMRA, Pakistan’s electronic media regulatory body, is currently going on in Lahore High Court (LHC). The court has sent notices to both the secretaries and asked for a response on March 15.

Justice Shahid Karim was hearing the case that was filed by Siddique Azhar, Advocate of Ahmad Muneer.

According to the petitioner, LHC had cancelled the chairmanship of former chairman Absar Alam and ordered appointing new chairman within a month, based on merit according to new rules.

The advocate has accused both the secretaries of contempt of the court by not following the orders of High Court to appoint a new Chairman of PEMRA. He also demanded that the court should take action against them.
