A total of 700 trees will be planted at D-Chowk as per plans

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Mushahidullah Khan on Monday planted a tree at D-Chowk in front of the parliament lodges.

“Plantation campaign began in the month of February and we have organised various activities regarding that,” the minister said.

He further added that the most successful activity that was going on was the Ghar Ghar Aik Shajar one in which volunteer students were heading from door to door and distributing plants.

In this regard, they had covered 5,000 homes in Islamabad already. Their target was to reach 10,000 homes in the city. He further said that in Pakistan, democracy and plantation both survive with great difficulty. This plantation was conducted on the instruction of senate standing committee which was held on February 27, 2018. In the standing committee, members demanded to plant trees at parliament lodges under the Green Pakistan Programme.

A total of 700 plants will be planted at D-Chowk as per planned. Five hundred plants have already been planted that include chir and pine. The event was attended by Parliamentary Secretary Romina Khurshid Alam, Islamabad Mayor Sheikh Anser, and Ministry of Climate Change Secretary Khizer Hayat, officers of Green Pakistan Programme and Ministry of Climate Change and media persons.
