Flower exhibition attracts Lahoris in droves

LAHORE: Loads of Lahoris thronged the Jilani Park on Sunday to witness the Annual Spring Flower Exhibition that will continue until March 30.

The exhibition has been organised by the Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) in collaboration with the Floral Art Society of Pakistan (FASP).

As many as 100 species flowers and 70 species of plants were put on display at the exhibition. The Government APWA College for Women, Government College University (GCU), Lahore College Women University (LCWU) and the Kinnaird College also participated in a competition of flower exhibition.

People from different walks of life were seen taking selfies with colourful and attractive flowers on the occasion.

Jawad Mahmood Malik, a visitor, said that the exhibition was a great and healthy activity for Lahoris. He said that it was a good source of recreation for people. “Flowers are a symbol of peace and they cast a positive impact on the thinking of a person, another visitor chimed in.

A floral artwork was also displayed by the FASP. Several nurseries also held their stalls and put on sale several types of flowerpots, flowers and vegetable seeds. A prize distribution ceremony was also held to encourage participations.

Lahore Mayor Colonel (r) Mubashir Javaid participated in the exhibition as the chief guest, while PHA Director General (DG) Mian Shakeel and other officials of the PHA and the FASP were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the mayor appreciated PHA for organising the exhibition.
