PML-N backed candidate bags PP-30 Sargodha by-poll

SARGODHA: Provisional results from PP-30 Sargodha by-poll suggests that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) backed independent candidate Yasir Zafar Sindhu has stood victorious.

According to unofficial results from all 137 polling stations, PML-N backed Yasir Zafar Sindhu has secured PP-30 constituency with 42, 736 votes, while Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate Sajid Mehmood stood second by securing 23,586 votes.

Stern security measures were ensured in surroundings of all 137 polling stations in the constituency, which has a total of 1,73,912 registered voters.

PML-N nominee was contesting as an independent candidate after the Supreme Court of Pakistan announced its verdict to disqualify Nawaz as party president, while also declaring all decision made by the former PM as null and void.
