LAHORE: Garrison University’s recently established “Digital Forensic Research and Service Centre” (DFRSC) initiated a special training course – “Certified White Collar Crime Investigator” – for National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding investigating and solving White-Collar Crimes.

The inauguration ceremony, held at Lahore Garrison University on Monday, was attended by Punjab Governor Rafique Rajwana. He was the chief guest and also inaugurated the course.

The Governor addressed the participants and paid tribute to Lahore Garrison University Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (r) Obaid Bin Zakria and Lahore NAB DG Maj (r) Syed Burhan Ali by saying, “Such unique courses will become an example for other educational institutes.”

He further said that white collar crimes do not include torture and it is hard to identify such criminals, but now the culprits won’t remain at large.

Criminals are utilising the latest techniques to commit crimes and the number of white crimes has significantly increased, so such kind of trainings are mandatory to the officers of our NAB. He said that introducing reforms in any law is always a good move; and accountability laws too need reformation.

“Our Government is determined to eradicate corruption. White collar criminals won’t be spared now. He said that a passion regarding anti-corruption efforts is needed like we had against terrorism by our public and law enforcement agencies. Public should step forward to gain their rights,” he said.

Lahore NAB DPGA said that our conviction rate remains 92 percent during the current year and accordingly, we have been successful in granting convictionsto the accused. “Today, criminals are using modern techniques to commit financial crimes and it is the need of the hour to train our officers accordingly. Such kind of courses would enhance the capabilities of our officers to resolve and bust such criminals.”

The training will explain investigative techniques for solving white collar crimes, anti-money laundering, asset tracing, digital forensics investigation, cyber-crimes and cyber security. Thirty-five seasoned investigating officers of NAB will attend the five-day course that will commence from 27th March to 31 March 2017.

The course will be followed by evaluation exam of candidates. Certificate of ‘White-Collar Crime Investigator”will be awarded to successful candidates. The course will facilitate the investigators with all necessary information that is required to unveil the white-collar crimes and criminals.
