LAHORE: Railway Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique taking notice of the delay in the train traffic, called an emergency meeting to provide relief to the travellers. The emergency meeting in the Railway Headquarters, in the presence of Pakistan Railways CEO, Railways GM and the Board of Governors shed light on the Sukkur train incident and the unusual delay in the relief operation due to the accident.

The minister stated that the travellers are the guests of Pakistan Railways and the affected commuters would be given complimentary breakfast on account of Pakistan Railways.

The spokesperson from Railways Headquarters stated that the derail mint work has been completed and the traffic is being restored to its pace. The heavy trains will be diverted to use the down tracks, in the absence of the affected up-track.

The traffic has been affected due to the train accident in the Sukkur division, reported the spokesperson. The restoration process is underway under the direct supervision of Railways Minister and CEO M Javed Anwar.

The down track has been closed to remove the damaged coaches from the track, and to stir up the movement of the relief train. Regretting for the inconvenience to the commuters, the spokesperson informed that the train traffic will be restored shortly.
