ISLAMABAD: Member of National Assembly (MNA) Mian Tariq Mehmood, who parted ways with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) last week, joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday.

Tariq Mehmood was elected MNA from NA-98 constituency of Gujranwala. He had parted ways with PML-N last week along with two former MPAs belonging to PML-N. Tariq Mehmood met PTI’s former secretary general Jahangir Khan Tareen following which party chief Imran Khan convened a meeting in Bani Gala and formally welcomed him to the PTI.

Last week, PML-N suffered a major blow in Gujranwala after Mian Tariq Mehmood and two former MPAs namely Mian Azhar Javed and Dr Ghulam Sarwar belonging to the federally ruling party parted ways with the organisation.

Sources had reported at the time that MNA Mehmood was to contest the general elections against Defence Minister Khurram Dastagir.
