Disabled Inclusive Association organisation gives out Achievement Awards to the deserving

RAWALPINDI: The Disabled Inclusive Association (DIA) in collaboration with the Rawalpindi Arts Council (RAC) held an Achievement Awards ceremony to special persons on Saturday.

The award distribution ceremony was held at RAC auditorium and was attended by philanthropists, social activists, public sector organisations, civil society representatives, office bearers and members of DIA and people from different sections of society.

Besides the acknowledgment of outstanding performances of special persons in different walks of life, they were awarded medals and certificates of excellence. Wheel chairs, white cans, artificial limbs, sewing machines and other tools of aid were distributed among the deserving special persons.

While addressing the ceremony, DIA President Ayesha Rehman expressed her gratitude to all those organisations and individuals who had extended a helping hand to special persons by donating useful items which would help them to earn their livelihood in a respectable manner.

She revealed that DIA had just started this noble cause with the encouragement and assistance of family friends and has been formed with the objective to address the difficulties of disabled persons by providing them with a helpful environment of education, training and employment.

Ayesha Rehman was of the view that there are very limited organisations in this sector which can understand the suffering of special persons and their grievances could only be resolved after finding need-based solutions.

She mentioned the keen interest and efforts of her teammates which rendered all possible support and assistance to become mentors of deserving disabled persons. She also briefed about the future plans of DIA and said that it would be made a vibrant organisation for special persons by under taking various ambitious plans of actions.

A thrilling performance was presented by renowned versatile artist Ali Zaib who performed on different songs. Various talented special persons also sang beautiful songs and presented skits to entertain the audience.

Social Welfare Rawalpindi Deputy Director Nabeela Malik and social activists Tahira Mushtaq also attended the ceremony and distributed awards among the winners.
