LAHORE: The city investigation wing of Lahore police on Saturday claimed to have nabbed prime accused wanted for nine years in a botched suicide attack on former military dictator General (r) Pervez Musharraf in Rawalpindi.

Suspect Salman Dar was part of the most wanted list of the Red Book and had a head money of Rs 500,000 on him, police said.

He is accused of manufacturing three suicide vests for carrying out the attack.

Dar has also admitted to being a member of the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP).

Musharraf’s motorcade was hit by a suicide attack in Rawalpindi in December 2003, in which the former president escaped unhurt.

The former president slipped out of the country in 2016 after a three-year travel ban was lifted. The former general imposed a martial law in 1999 by overthrowing the government of Nawaz Sharif. He is also the head of a political party, All Pakistan Muslim League.
