The speakers discussed different aspects of Faiz’s life including the ‘Rawalpindi conspiracy’, Faiz’s life in jail and his attraction with family members and society among others. Panellists included Urdu poet Iftikhar Arif, Zafarullah Poshni and Kishwar Naheed.
Poet Iftikhar Arif said he spent time with Faiz during his foreign tours. “Despite his social status, I always found Faiz down to earth.”
Poet Kishwar Naheed said Faiz remained close to his family despite being away from home. She said that Faiz’s poetry was all about struggle for middlemen and the poor. The panellists concluded the session with some verses from Faiz’s poetry.
