KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Information, Labour, Human Resources, Transport and Mass Transit Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said on Friday that to tackle climate change and to save the environment, everyone needed to play their individual roles at every level. “It is our (government) responsibility to work for clean and pollution-free environment. In this regard, we will take concrete steps to provide clean air to our coming generations who will spend their lives in a less polluted atmosphere.” He expressed these views while addressing at “Climate Change Summit 2018” held at a local hotel by the Future Born of Pakistan.

Syed Nasir Hussain Shah further said, “we are adopting other energy resources like renewable resources solar and wind for the purpose. These plans will be implemented by December 2019. In this regard, Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has been given a strategy under the directives PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The plan will enable us to leave a more peaceful, clean and pollution free country for the future generation,” he added.

He congratulated the organizers for holding such an important summit on the topic and appreciated the efforts taken by the Karachi Grammar School student.

“The provincial government is extending all possible help to such organisations and individuals and will continue to assist all in this regard.”

The minister further said that as a minister in charge he was working on launching environment friendly busses and transport system throughout Sindh including Karachi. A proper mechanism for inspection of the transport and industrial zones to secure our future was also under consideration, he said, adding that installation of treatment plants in Sindh was underway to avoid further damage to the environment and to pave the way for a clear atmosphere with new and ongoing projects in energy and environment sectors to enhance the desired results and improvements

The event also featured a documentary and a panel discussion on the impact of climate change and an award distribution ceremony.
