Sir: In the Pakistani office environment, most employers expect from their employees to respond in agreement using, “yes, sir” and “okay, Sir” when a suggestion is made.
Whenever creative people want to deliver efficiency in their work and present original ideas, bosses usually stop the person on the spot and say they have seniority and know better about the company. They tell the junior employees not to share their ideas. The problem is that many employers do not adapt to new ideas and methods because they are only familiar with the existing systems and ways to solve problems.
They create hurdles and spoil people’s reputation in front of the top management because they are uninformed and insecure. There is a great need for solutions-based talk rather than arguments in our workplaces. In the 21st century, a successful organisation is one that is constantly learning and seeking the ideas of a creative workforce and opens to implementing its ideas in the organisation.
