Sir: The honourable Chief Justice of the Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK) High Court has decreed that increments in salary will be given to only those employees who offer prayers regularly, and he sometimes would himself be the prayer leader.
A couple of questions immediately come to mind. How will he determine if his subordinates offer the morning (fajr), evening (asr), sunset (maghrib) and night (isha) prayers (when they are not at work)? Will he appoint a team for this purpose? Furthermore, what about the other mandatory requirements of Islam? How will he know if his employees offer zakat every year, for instance? What about those who don’t fast on weekly and public holidays?
