Girl students of Thar Foundation School play one-day cricket

HYDERABAD: As part of Thar Foundation’s agenda for empowering women in all fields and after the successful launch of its women dump truck driving programme, the foundation by initiating girls-specific sport competitions events in the area arranged a cricket tournament in village Bitra of Islamkot.

Thar Foundation-run schools in villages Bitra, Tharyo Halepoto and Mansingh Bheel participated. Teachers and families of playing girls as well as Thar Foundation staff participated to support young players. After an interesting competition, Bitra won match to grab the trophy. The awards and trophies were presented to respective teams by Foundation’s manager education, Sabeen Shah and other SECMC officials.

Ms Shah said that Thari girls have immense confidence and talent to compete with others in any field. She said that since sports were proven to boost self-confidence, such competitions would add to development of their personality for good. Thar Foundation will keep on organizing more sport events for youngsters of Thar, boys and girls alike. SECMC senior officials Ahmed Munib, Fayyaz Soomro, Kamran Hussain and Engro Powergen Thar Limited officials Farhan Ansari and Raja Touqeer were also present
