LAHORE: City police have started one-window facilitation centres for aspirants of police character certificate required by the people for going abroad or seeking jobs in government as well as private sectors. In this connection, police have established five centres in Gulberg, Defence, Iqbal Town, Town Hall and DIG (Operations) Office, where citizens can easily submit their applications for getting police verification certificates within 10 days after completing legal procedure. Talking to Daily Times, Superintendent of Police (Security) Ebadat Nisar said the new facilitation centres had been established on the directives of DIG (Operations) Dr Haider Ashraf to provide the best facilities to citizen seeking police verification certificates, no objection certificates, driving licences (learner), international passport, FIR copy and legal opinion to name a few. He said more than 6,000 police verification certificates had been issued to citizens during the last three months. He added that the citizens after submitting required documents were being issued police verification certificates within 10 days. Sources said that the new facilitation centres, where well-educated staff, including women, had been deputed to provide the best facilities to the citizens. “Earlier, it was a very cumbersome procedure to get police verification certificates despite visiting police stations for quite a number of times, but now the newly established centres were facilitating citizens through the use to latest technology,” they added. However, the SP said that strict legal and departmental action would be taken against officials in case of any negligence and delaying tactics. He also appealed to the citizens to visit his office anytime in case they face any problem at the newly established facilitation centres.
