Rao Anwar a no-show in SC, Court issues contempt notice

Islamabad: Rao Anwar failed to show up in the Supreme Court today despite being issued a protective bail in the extrajudicial murder of Naqeebullah Mehsud.

A three-member bench headed by the Chief Justice Saqib Nisar presided over the case, Naqeebullah’s father was also present in the Court.

Rao Anwar called me on Whatsapp after the last hearing to confirm that he will appear before the Court today, IG Sindh AD Khawaja informed the bench.

“Enough time has passed, it seems Rao Anwar doesn’t want to appear before the Court, we responded positively to his letter”, Chief Justice remarked.

A contempt of court notice issued to Rao Anwar and all law enforcement agencies are directed to locate him. The Court also issued an order to freeze all bank accounts of Rao Anwar. The hearing was postponed for fifteen days.
