Work on Sahiwal Coal Power Project to be accelerated

LAHORE: A delegation of China Huaneng Group, led by its Vice President Fan Xiaxia, called on Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday to discuss matters related to Sahiwal Coal Power Project and operational matters of coal transportation.

The meeting expressed satisfaction over the pace of work and consensus was made to accelerate it further. The Chinese delegation assured the CM of completing the project before the stipulated time.

Speaking on the occasion, Shahbaz Sharif said that this 1,320-megawatt venture was self-exploratory point of reference for diligent work, rapidness and standard, and it would set another record of expedient work. He applauded the efforts of the Chinese company for speedy completion of the project and congratulated their entire team for it. The CM said that Pakistan and China cherished their strong bond of friendship that had adorned economic cooperation and bilateral trade.

He said China had invested billions of dollars under the CPEC in Pakistan, which was a real example of their friendship. Appreciating the One Belt, One Road vision of the Chinese president, Shahbaz Sharif said that Pakistani people highly regarded the cooperation of China, especially in overcoming the energy crisis in Pakistan.

He added that speedy work on development projects under the CPEC had brought uneasiness to certain political opponents but they also could not deny the economic benefits the whole region would enjoy once it was completed.
