17 freed tribesmen get warm welcome

KHYBER AGENCY: The political administration gave away food and tool packages to 17 tribesmen of Abdul Khad area of Tehsil Landi Kotal who had been set free by militants yesterday after keeping them in detention for five months and five days.

In this connection a simple ceremony was organized in the hujra (male guest house) of Safarash Khan, Abdul Khad that was attended by the Political Agent (PA), Khyber, Khalid Mehmood as Chief Guest, forces officials, number of tribal elders and residents of the locality.

Speaking at the gathering, PA Khyber Agency congratulated the effected families on the safe arrival of their dear and near ones and said it was possible only with the blessings of the Allah Almighty and joint efforts of the whole community.

“The tribesmen, he added were passing through a difficult moment of their lives but hopefully time will change and the near future will bring relief and joy for them”, he remarked.

He urged the members of the tribal community to cement their unity among their ranks and let no one be able to sabotage the peaceful environment of the area.

He announced completion work of gravity driven potable water scheme for the area and granted Rs 10,000 per head to all released 17 tribal.

Malik Masal Khan, Malik Abdurrazaq Afridi, Zarbullah Shinwari and Malik Nadeem Afridi also spoke on the occasion.

At the end the top political official distributed the package donated by China Aid which comprised food items, blankets, and tool kits to the 17 freed tribesmen.
