ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday rejected the nomination papers of four members of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP).
The MQM nominees whose forms were rejected are: Amir Waliuddin Chishti and former Citizen-Police Liaison Committee (CPLC) chairman Ahmed Chinoy.
Chishti’s form was rejected over being a defaulter from bank. Chinoy failed to produce the record of 16-year education.
The forms of PSP nominees Hassan Sabir and Sofia Saeed Shah were rejected as their proposers/seconders subscribed to more than one nomination paper. This is not permissible under the Elections Act, 2017.
On Monday, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had rejected former finance minister Ishaq Dar’s nomination papers for the Senate elections.
Ishaq Dar, a relative of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif and sitting senator, had applied on a technocrat seat from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz.
The returning officer rejected his nomination papers during scrutiny as the counsel for a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf candidate objected that Dar had not submitted an authentic declaration of his assets.
