KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) registrar on Friday approached the interior ministry secretary, requesting it not to issue Dr Asim Hussain a duplicate or fresh passport and to keep his name in Exit Control List (ECL).
The SHC referee judge on Wednesday accepted the bail plea of Dr Aim in two corruption cases, observing “The petitioner is granted bail on medical grounds as we have found sickness or ailment, with which the petitioner is suffering, is such that it cannot be properly treated within the premises of jail.”
The court directed him to submit a surety of Rs 2.5 million in each case and directed the interior ministry not to issue Dr Asim any fresh or duplicate passports until further orders, while keeping his name on the ECL.
Dr Asim was granted bail in two cases case pertaining to Rs 479.84 billion loss to the national exchequer. He has been facing corruption charges that he had allegedly misused his powers as petroleum minister.
