RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) Pabbi near Mangla on Friday.

COAS met the foreign military teams, participating in 2nd Pakistan Army Team Spirit Competition (PATS), being held near Mangla from April 1 to April 5, 2017.

Apart from Pakistan Army’s teams, 10 foreign teams from China, Indonesia, Jordon, Malaysia, Maldives, Myanmar, Srilanka, Turkey, Thailand and UK armies are also taking part in the event.

The competition aims to test the survival skills and physical endurance of the troops. It will last for 72 hours and includes 23 field events focusing on counter terrorism operations.

Bajwa interacted with the foreign teams and highlighted the importance of physical fitness and the spirit of team work. The COAS said that terrorism is affecting the whole world and requires collective response approach.

He also said that Pakistan is a peace loving country and has significantly contributed towards peace and stability. “The world acknowledges our efforts in this regard and your presence here is the evidence. Those who propagate to isolate Pakistan should see how Pakistan is actually valued and honoured by our global friends,” the COAS said.
