LARKANA: Activists of political parties along with members of civil society demanded the removal of Mayor Larkana on corrupt practices.

A rally ‘Remove Mayor-Save Larkana’ was taken out from Jamia Islamia and terminated in front of Pakistan Peoples Party’s Larkana Mayor, Aslam Shaikh’s office.

Jamiat Ulamae Islam Fazal, Maulana Nasir Mahmood Soomro and People’s Party Workers’ Dr Safdar Abbasi and Moazim Abbasi in addition to numbers of activists and citizens holding party’s flags, placard and banner chanted slogans against the mayor and demanded his removal.

Protesters staged a sit-in outside the Mayor’s office. Speakers alleged that Mayor was towing PPP’s corrupt policies due to which Larkana has been destroyed.

They alleged that Mayor has not given any development fund to union committees other than PPP elected members.

They alleged that millions of local body funds were being distributed among PPP workers instead of on development schemes. They claimed that Rs 90 billion were looted before local bodies elections in the name of development.

No development work had so far been initiated in Larkana and in result broken roads and streets, heaps of garbage and flowing of sewage water in almost all areas and localities of Larkana could be witnessed. They demanded posting of an independent Mayor so that uplift works could be started in city.
