RAWALPINDI: Frontier Works Organisation (FWO) has commenced the arduous task of up-gradation and widening of Skardu-Jaglot Road, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in an official statement on Saturday.
According to ISPR, the road is only link between Gilgit and Skardu. The project encompass 164 KM long road in most treacherous area all along Indus River. Road design includes 5 tunnels one of which is eight km’s long.
The road when completed shall reduce the Jaglot-Skardu traveling time from about 8 hours to less than 3 hours. Project will be completed in 2 years. FWO has to its credit many such challenging projects including 1,300 km long historical KKH and thousands of km’s of road network in difficult areas of FATA and Balochistan.
