ISLAMABAD: The Millennial Olympiad (TMO) 2018 commenced with an uproar of fun and frolic at The Millennium University College (TMUC) Springs, Bahria Town Rawalpindi on Friday.
The three-day mega festival was inaugurated by several competitions and 500 plus participants from over 15 institutions around the twin cities, taking part in 12 exciting competitions which included football, badminton, volleyball, snooker, Minute to Win It, a talent show, a pet show, tambola, paintball, console gaming and table tennis. The social events began with a DJ night by the prominent DJ Somewhat Super, followed by a signature fashion show with the famous Tariq Amin.
TMO18 is an initiative of the bright and enthusiastic students of TMUC Bahria Springs, Rawalpindi. It is a platform in which participating students from across the twin cities have registered to prove their aptitude and creativity within various domains of co and extracurricular activities.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Roots Millennium Schools & Millennium University Colleges Executive Director Anna Faisal. She announced that the aim of TMO18 was to inspire youth to help shape the world based on solidarity, liberty, dignity, harmony and prosperity for all. She appreciated the initiative of the students and encouraged the youth of Pakistan to become the agents of change through engagement in student initiatives on national and international forums. Her speech enhanced the students’ spirit of patriotism and nationalism.
The ceremony also included speeches by TMO18 President Ahmed Waqar Khan, who profoundly thanked TMUC management and the host team for their tireless efforts. He also encouraged the students present at the opening ceremony to take pride in their school and take the spirit of entrepreneurship forward so as to contribute to the development and growth of Pakistan as a country and a nation.
The opening ceremony included a lively performance by the host team, which the audience thoroughly enjoyed. The commencement of the table tennis and badminton tournaments and the pet show followed the ceremony. TMUC Bahria Springs won the first tournament match, and hope to continue marking their territory in Rawalpindi! The festivities will continue until tomorrow (Sunday).
“The students of TMUC Bahria Springs have put their heart into ensuring the success of this event and are enjoying every minute of it,” TMO18 organiser and students affairs counselor Iqra Salim said. “We as a campus are lucky enough to be a hybrid institution, with A-Level students securing placements and scholarships in leading international universities, and undergraduate students pursuing their studies within their own country at one of the best universities Pakistan has to offer. We inspire the youth here by not only giving them a world-renowned education, but also by providing them with the means to garner their energy into productive and grand festivals and events,” she added.
