KARACHI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) is keen to replace computer operators with police constables.

Sindh FIA Acting Director Asim Qaimkhani has asked the Sindh inspector general to depute 100 constables, Daily Times learnt through a letter.

“In FIA, including Anti Human Trafficking Circle, Anti-Corruption and Crime Circle, Corporate Crime Circle, Commercial Banking Circle, State Bank Circle and Cyber Crime Circle, most of the investigation officers prepare their investigation documents, CFRs, Court Chalans and even FIRs with the help of private computer operators termed as ‘Munshsi which can lead to the leakage of official information, sometime these private persons have also been involved in settling down the deals related to the suspects involved in enquiries and cases for their investigation officers,” a source said.

These private ‘Munshis’ are considered to be loyal with their investigation officers who pay them on monthly and weekly bases and information regarding faulty investigations cannot be escalated to the high officials; that’s why the Director has decided to lay down a proper system for receiving sensitive information about enquiries and cases held by FIA investigation officers through these new posted governmental staff, sources further claimed.

Qaimkhani has sought the computer-literate constables for three years on deputation basis, according to the letter.

An FIA officer said the director is a police officer who wants monopoly of the Sindh police in the FIA.
