New law for cheaper litigation

Author: Daily Times

Sir: The federal cabinet approved several agreements and MOUs in a meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. PM Abbasi has realised that he is the real premier and should fulfill his responsibilities instead of getting instructions from Jati Umrah. The decrease in the retail prices of medicines was also approved.

Litigation Act of 2017 will come into force from March 1, 2018 to lessen the burden of costs incurred by the litigants. It is a step in the right direction and will provide opportunity to redress the rights through the courts of law.

In order to alleviate the problems of Sugar Cane growers the provincial governments have been directed to make it sure that the payments are made on time and at the rates agreed upon. Approval for the creation of Institute of Science and technology Bahawalpur was also given.

Appointment of directors of PSO, members of PPL and several judges from various courts were also approved.

Meanwhile, the opposition leader K Shah and Chairman Senate Raza Rabbani complained about the degradation of politics and recourse to abusive politicking. The degeneration of political dialogue should be a concern of all politicians. The civility must prevail. Both of them should take a lead on this complex issue.

MQM (Pakistan) once again is in trouble. A dispute between the Rabita Committee and the leader of the party has arisen. Both the parties are at odds with each other. The daggers have been drawn. Dr. Farooq  Sattar refused to meet them at the Bahadarabad office. He is upset with the committee members over Senate ticket dispute. The bone of contention is Mr Kamran Tessori who has been awarded ticket by Dr. Sattar. The committee members have rebelled against this move.

Two different delegations of the committee visited the PIB residence of Dr Sattar to resolve the issues. The dispute has been intensified. The dead-lock remains intact. I think there is more to the story than the award of ticket. Perhaps they are testing each other. Dr Sattar wants all powers as the party head. He does not want to appear weak as a leader.

Rana Sanaullah is promoting Mayam Nawaz and Hamza Shahbaz as the future of PML-N. If these two rotten to the core are the future of PML-N, then only God can save the party. Sharif will lead the party if obstacles were not removed in the way of Mian Nawaz Sharif. I think they are planning to create confusion and chaos across the country.

I think the time has come to get rid of this corrupt politics and civility should prevail.
