LAHORE: During an anti-terrorism court (ATC) hearing of Kasur rape and murder case on Friday, Punjab Home Ministry announced that trial of the main accused, Imran Ali, will be conducted at Kot Lakhpat Jail.

Imran, who is accused of rape and murder of nine minors in Kasur, was presented before the ATC for a case hearing, where it was informed by Punjab Prosecutor General Ahtesham Qadir that future proceedings will take place inside the jail.

Moreover, it was also told that to ensure stern security measures, CCTV cameras have been installed for the purpose of monitoring Imran Ali throughout the jail premises.

Earlier on Tuesday, Imran Ali was presented before an ATC by the police. His hearing date was fixed for Wednesday, but for security reasons, he was presented in court a day before. The court extended Imran Ali’s physical remand for three days.

A 7-year-old minor from Kasur was raped before being strangled to death on January 9, causing a countrywide uproar and protests.

The main accused was arrested on January 27 and also confessed to his crime, announced Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif during a press conference.
