‘Takbir Khan Afridi’s sudden demise leaves behind an unfillable vacuum’

KHYBER AGENCY: A condolence gathering in the memory of deceased journalist Takbir Khan Afridi was held at the Government Boys High School, Zentara, Landi Kotal on Thursday.

The memorial gathering was organised under the auspices of Rokhana Sabaoon Welfare Organisation, which was attended by scores of local media persons, teachers and members of the civil society.

Speaking on the occasion, Landi Kotal Assistant Political Agent Niaz Muhammad, who presiding the moot, paid rich tribute to Takbir Khan Afridi for serving the society and vowed that his mission would be taken forward at any cost. “Death is a natural phenomenon, but the sudden death of Takbir Afridi saddened every single person of his tribe that proves the fact that he was a noble person,” he said, adding, that the deceased journalist had assisted and guided the administration officials while pointing out problems being faced by the dwellers of the area.

He assured that the administration would extend every possible assistance to Takbir’s family and announced a sum of Rs 50,000 for the treatment of Takbir’s ailing child.

Rokhana Sabaoon President Ajmal Afridi said that it would take decades to fill the vacuum created by the sudden death of Takbir.

“He was an icon for all of us and his services would be remembered for a long time to come,” he said.

Journalist Abdul Azam Shinwari, Sudhir Ahmad Afridi and Sharifullah Afridi also spoke on the occasion.

Towards the conclusion of the gathering, prayers were offered for the departed soul and charity was distributed among the children and participants.
