BAHAWALPUR: Jamaat-e-Islami chief Sirajul Haq on Saturday said that there is dire need of an extensive operation for the elimination of corruption from society. Addressing a public gathering, he said the JI’s campaign was not against any person, party or family and the JI wanted accountability of the corrupt people in political, bureaucracy, and other walks of life. He said the Supreme Court should issue a roadmap to curb the corruption from the country. Criticising the government, Siraj said that they badly ignored the development of southern Punjab and gave hollow slogans about the creation of a separate province. He said that tickets will be issued to the honest persons during next general elections. He added that if the JI would be given a chance to govern the country then education would be given second-most priority after defence. He urged the government to highlight the Indian atrocities in the Indian-held Kashmir at international forum. The JI chief urged the people to vote against corruption, poverty and injustice. He said the poor, farmers and labourers should play their role to bring injustice and tyranny to an end. Inter-district gang held: Police claimed to have arrested five members of an inter-district gang involved in street crime and motorcycle snatching. Police claimed to have recovered thirteen motorcycles, Rs 800,000 cash and other valuables from them. Ahmed Pur East ASP Mahzoor Ali Ghauri disclosed this at a press conference in Uch Sharif. The ASP handed over as many as 13 motorcycles to their owners.
