Kashmiris freedom struggle

Author: Daily Times

Sir: No words can do justice to the Kashmiris’ decades old freedom struggle against Indian occupation of their territory. At the same time, there are no words strong enough to adequately describe the horrific nature of the atrocities of the Indian occupying forces. Their crimes include various forms of violent torture and the suppression of unarmed Kashmiris, who are only guilty of pursuing their right to self determination.

Thus it is heartening to note that the people of Pakistan are observing February 5 as Kashmir Solidarity Day to reiterate their commitment to continue extending unstinted support to the brave people of Kashmir, and to draw the attention of the international community to this pressing issue. It is high time the United Nations (UN) implement its own resolutions in this regard and take action to stop the crimes of the Indian occupying forces.

According to the reports in the newspapers, Kashmir Solidarity Day is also being observed by many human rights and freedom loving bodies to express their continued support to Kashmiris in their just struggle for freedom.

The lingering Kashmir dispute is the main source of continued tense relations between Pakistan and India. Pakistan both at the government and the social level has been supporting the people of Kashmir and calling for a peaceful solution to the dispute in accordance with UN resolutions.
