KHYBER AGENCY: A protest demonstration of fifth grade students of the state-run school of Pasad Khel, was held against lack of facilities and constant absent teachers, in front of the Landikotal press club on Sunday.
Dozens of students of government high school, Khar Ghaley, flanked by their parents while holding placards inscribed with slogans in their favour were chanting slogans to provide them a more favourable condition for studies. Speaking to the angry mob, Zubair Shah and Abuzer, fathers of two protesting students said that since long the principal was absent from his duty and the school had been left at the mercy of an in charge teacher.
Out of 16 teaching staff members only five partially attended their duties while the rest of them had been constantly absent from duties which only meant depriving their children from getting education.
They further added that all the 86 students of class 5 failed in the exam that showed the poor performance of the school.
They also expressed their dissatisfaction over lack of facilities in the school and said even sitting mats were unavailable in the institution. The protesters said that a number of times they conveyed their grievances to the education department but to no avail.
They threatened that if their problems were not address immediately they would have no other option but to initiate a protest gathering in front of the Governor House, Peshawar and the Directorate of Education, FATA.
