COAS attends funeral prayers of martyred soldiers in Peshawar

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff ( COAS ) Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa attended the funeral prayers of 11 security personnel, including an officer, who were martyred in Swat on Saturday.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, the Peshawar Corps commander and other senior civil and military officials were also present at the prayers held in Peshawar.

General Bajwa later visited the CMH Hospital in the provincial capital to meet those injured in the incident.

On February 4, 11 soldiers were martyred when a terrorist blew himself up during a volleyball match in Swat.

At least 13 people also sustained injuries in the attack that was the deadliest since 2013. The blast took place in the evening near the Pakistan Army’s sports unit situated at Sharifabad area of Swat’s Kabal tehsil.
