Sci-tech committee endorses all budgetary proposals

ISLAMABAD: The Science and Technology Standing Committee was briefly apprised about the budgetary proposals relating to Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the next financial year 2017-18.

The committee endorsed all the budgetary proposals of departments and directed to complete their ongoing projects on priority.

According to a press release, the meeting of the Standing Committee on Science and Technology was held on Monday in Parliament House under the chairmanship of Tariq Bashir Cheema.

The committee informed that amount of Rs 1776.872 million for 21 projects were allocated for the year 2016-17.

The body was of the view that due to delay in completion of the projects, its cost increased which resulting in huge loss to the government exchequer.

The committee was informed that Rs 3103.372 million has also been demanded for 66 projects for the current financial year 2017-18.

The committee decided to approach Finance and Planning divisions for allocation of proposed funds of the ministry.

Earlier, the Water and Power secretary briefed the body about details of the projects included in the forth-coming Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for the year 2017-18.

Athar Gillani, Armaghan Subhani, Ghulam Bibi Bharwana, Musarat Mahesar, Aftab Shahban Mirani, Shamsunnisa, Ali Muhammad Khan, Aqibullah Khan, Lal Chand Malhi, Mehboob Alam, Aliya Kamran and Usman Tarakai attended the meeting.
