Women rights

Author: Daily Times

Sir: A girl in Gilgit Baltistan was mercilessly murdered by her own parents simply because she wanted to marry the man of her own choice. Time and again, calls for women rights have been raised by human rights activists but they are suppressed for allegedly “defaming” Pakistan. Is that even an issue? Why is an international image of a country more important than the security of women?

A country can restore much of its lost dignity by showing interest in saving the lives of those in minority. In fact, violations of women rights defame country more than any other thing.

Government has to take action.
