FSL T20 cricket tournament begins in Jamrud

KHYBER AGENCY: First ever, Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA) Super League (FSL) T-20 Cricket Tournament started in sports complex, Jamrud on Monday in a colorful opening ceremony.

Adviser to Prime Minister, Ameer Muqam was chief guest besides tribal parliamentarians, political administration officials, Khyber, especially the national Cricketers, Imran Nazeer, Imran Farhat, large numbers of tribal elders, youths and sports lovers were among the participants.

Two tribal children an eight years old Thelessmia patient, Hamad Afridi and a cancer patient, Fakhir jointly inaugurated the sports event by hitting ball with bats.

Dressed in colorful sports kits, players of all the participant teams presented marched pass while passing in front of the dais. Local musicians and traditional Attanar dancers enthralled the audience.

Addressing on the occasion, Ameer Muqam said that the sports combats have been arranged with the aim to portray soft image of the tribal belt and the country will get new talent in the cricket. Peace full organizing of the cricket tournament would convoy massage that peace had been restored in the tribal belt.

The Prime Minister has special attachment with the tribesmen and on personnel interest of the PM; he joins the opening ceremony of the FATA sports activity and the PM is sincere to initiate reforms in FATA.

As per details provided by the organizer of FSL, Haji Taimur Afridi said total of 24 teams have been divided in four groups, and each team comprises minimum nine players from FATA will compete one another in 67 cricket games.

The cricket matches would be played at different venues including Kurram, Bajaur, South Waziristan and Khyber Agencies he maintained and adding the tournament would continue for 10 days and the final match would be played on April 13, in Younas Khan Cricket Stadium, Miran Shah, South Waziristan.

Cash prizes of Rs 0.6 million and Rs 0.3 million will be awarded to the winner and runner up teams respectively of the tournament.
