KHAIRPUR: An ASI of Excise Police Khairpur identified as Gada Hussain Bhatti was hit by a Mazda truck (TKV-214) when he signaled a driver to stop during search drive on old National Highway near Irani Hospital, Khairpur. He died on the spot while police arrested driver, Abdul Baseer Pathan and brought him to A-section police station. A FIR was lodged against him. The body of the deceased was handed over to his family after an autopsy. Meanwhile, professors and teachers of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur staged a protest in front of the Vice Chancellor SALU office alleging that after appointment of Vice Chancellor, Dr Perveen Shah, record of corruption were broken in department of examination, finance, registrar office and other departments. They claimed that no work was made without gratification and alleged the office of Vice Chancellor and Registrar.

They demanded to issue letters of promotion and removed computer operator, Sinakder Janwari from Registrar Office, released pension of retired teachers and teaching staff, provide sweet drinking water, issue degrees of M. Phil under HEC policy and removed senior chairpersons of various departments should be restored at their original posting. Professor Ishart Meerani, Dr Meenhoon Khan Laghari, Professor Ameer Saheto, Professor Noor Muhammad ShahProfessor Dr Iram Rani, Professor Shamroze Saheto, Professor Muhammad Ali Birohi and others took part in protest.
