RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Bajwa, who is in the United Kingdom on a three-day official visit, on Tuesday hailed the role of overseas Pakistanis towards the country’s progress.

He met Pakistanis at a reception hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in UK. The top general assured them that the army would play its role for the country’s security, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement.

“The army chief apprised them about the environment in Pakistan, achievements in efforts against terrorism, and projected its results through the whole-of-nation approach,” the statement added.

Later, the chief addressed UK think tank Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) where he shared his thoughts on geopolitical environment, security challenges and role of Pakistan and the Pakistan Army towards peace and stability.

He also highlighted prospects of CPEC towards economic development of the region. The COAS said Pakistan was positively engaged to bring about peace and stability in the region, including Afghanistan.

The forum appreciated candid expression of the COAS and acknowledged the army’s contributions towards peace and stability.
