Rana Sanaullah blasts Shahid Masood for bank account claims

LAHORE: Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah lashed out at journalist Shahid Masood on Monday saying that sources of such individuals ‘should be questioned’.

Speaking to journalists outside Punjab Assembly, Sanaullah said that Masood is a ‘pawn’ and alleged him of working on orders of ‘unknown powers’ to give rape and murder case of Zainab a false direction.

“Some individuals on media channels are trying to fool the public. There are other powers behind them,” the law minister said.

Sanaullah also asked Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Saqib Nisar to take notice of journalists who spread bogus news and information.

Anchorperson Masood had on Thursday last week handed over to the Supreme Court (SC) the names of a provincial minister from Punjab and his influential friend who were allegedly behind the brutal rape and murder of 7-year-old Zainab in Kasur.

Masood also said that he had provided the details of 37 bank accounts of main accused in Zainab rape case Imran Ali to the court, adding that majority of these accounts were in foreign currency.

State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), however, refuted claims of the main accused in Zainab rape and murder case owning several commercial bank accounts on Friday last week.
