‘Islam teaches followers to respect mankind’

PESHAWAR: Islam is the only religion that teaches to respect the honour and dignity of mankind to its followers and safeguards human rights. Before Islam there was always anarchy and the rights of humans were violated.

These views were expressed by Prof. Nadeem Fareed and other speakers in a three days training workshop held in a local hotel in Peshawar.

The workshop was organized by the Agency for Human Rights under the auspices of Ministry of Human Rights in coordination with the Asia Foundation.

The workshop was attended by officers of different departments. Regional Director, Ministry of Human Rights Ghulam Ali, Additional Secretary Law Department Mukhtiar Ahmad, Zulfiqar Ali, Director National Agency for Human Rights. Prof. Nadeen Fareed said among five big religions, only Islam teaches to safeguards the Human Rights. He said the rules and laws of developed countries needed to be effectively implemented and make them useful for the welfare of mankind.

While mentioning the international circumstances, he said safeguarding the Human Rights was our collective responsibility because only protection of Human Rights can pave way for the development and progress of mankind. He said the basic aim of the training workshop is the capacity building of the concerned bodies and to enable them to effectively initiate steps for safeguarding the Human Rights. Mukhtar Ahmad while appreciating holding of the workshop termed the protection of Human Rights as unavoidable.
