KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday lashed out at Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif for questioning why he was ousted from premiership during Jaranwala rally.
Speaking to the media in Sindh’s capital, Khan criticised Nawaz for taking jibes at the Supreme Court (SC) during his address in Jaranwala, while also alleging the former premier of money laundering.
“I do not understand why Nawaz keeps on crying about SC’s decision. He will soon be sent to Adiala Jail for his money laundering,” said Imran.
Khan also said that he refused to share the stage with Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari during Mall Road sit-ins because the former president is ‘equally as corrupt as Nawaz Sharif.’
The PTI chief also mentioned that Sindh and Punjab police require a complete overhaul since the police force of both the provinces ‘regularly carry out extrajudicial killings.’
Earlier today, Khan had shared an infographic through his official twitter account commending Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) police’s performance during PTI government’s on-going tenure in the province. The stats reveal a decrease in the number of crimes since Imran-led tehreek took charge of the province.
Nawaz addresses rally in Jaranwala
Earlier today, Nawaz had said that he was ousted from the country’s premiership because he did not draw salary from son’s company.
Speaking to a party rally in Jaranwala, Nawaz said that he was unfairly disqualified and that he has opted to turn to public’s court for justice. “I was ousted because of this crime. I came to the public’s court to get justice,” said Nawaz.
Referring to his disqualification by the SC in July 2017, Nawaz said that it was the people of Pakistan who chose him as the leader and only the public has right to disqualify the former prime minister.
“It was the people of Pakistan who elected me. Does anyone else possess the right to disqualify me but the people?,” he questioned the rally attendees, while also adding that ‘the nation will reject the decision.’
