Meanwhile, though the former District Malir SSP Rao Anwar and his police party members remained at large, the police department has removed 17 Head Muharrirs from the District Malir.
A delegation of Mehsud tribe leaders headed by Rehmat Khan Mehsud held a meeting with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Allah Dino Khowaja on Thursday where the tribal leaders showed their satisfaction on the three members inquiry committee headed by Additional IG Counter Terrorsim Department Sanaullah Abbasi. The inquiry team was constituted by IGP Sindh following the claims by the victim’s family accusing SSP Rao Anwar and his entire team for killing Naseemullah in a fake encounter.
Zone South police chief DIG Azad Khan who is also a member of inquiry team was also presented at the meeting.
“The fair and transparent inquiry over the Naseemullah’ s killing in a fake encounter keep our morale high,” the tribal leaders told the meeting. “We are sure that it will not only good for the justice but also it keeps the police morale also high.”
On the other hand, IGP Sindh told them that all the formalities for the justice will be fulfilled while doing a fair and transparent investigations into the matter. “The police is busy day and night for the protection of the citizens,” IGP Sindh said. “Citizens are not only responsible for the respect of the law but it is a duty of police as well.” IGP Sindh said that whoever will break the law will dealt accordingly to law.
On the other hand, in a bid to break the influence of SSP Anwar in District Malir, the police high ups in an ongoing crackdown against the confident police team of SSP Anwar removed 11 Head Muharrirs, five head constables, one assistant sub inspector and 12 police post in-charges from District Malir and appointed new police personnel from other districts of Karachi.
The transfer and postings were made on recommendation of newly appointed District Malir police Adeel Chandio in replacement of SSP Anwar.
Rao Anwar was considered to be the most powerful police officer in Karachi who and 15 police stations under his command and almost entire police officials and personnel are posted within District Malir only on his recommendation. He and his team is currently on run in a bid to avoid the arrests into the murder case of Naseemullah in a fake encounter, however, Rao Anwar has already claimed that the committee held bias against him.
Earlier, three superintendents of police including Iftikhar Lodhi, Chaudhry Saifullah and Dr Najeeb, two DSPs and 11 SHOs of the District Malir have already been removed.
In a recent move, police post in-charges who have been removed included Riaz Ahmed Awan of Naseerabad police post of Bin Qasim police station, Akbar Ali Talpur of Bhittai Colony police post of Ibrahim Hyderi, Muhammd Younus of Khuldabad police post of Shah Latif, Muhammad Yasin of New Sabzi Mandi police post of SITE Super Highway police station and Sabo Khan Find of Gadap City.
The suspended head Muharrirs are included ASI Noor Sultan of Sukkhan police station, ASI Muhammad Ameen of Quaidabad police station, ASI Rana Liaquat of Sohrab Goth police station, ASI Mian Muhammad of Sacchal police station, ASI Imadad Ali of Memon Goth police station while the head constables included Daniyal Pervez of Malir City police station, Danish Pervez of Sharafi Goth police station, Javed Iqbal of SITE Super Highway, Fakhar Cheema of Mubina Town police station and Umer Mallah of Gulshan-e-Maymar police station. One ASI Rao Faisal who is a nephew of Rao Anwar of Ibrahim Hyderi was also removed. Sources in the Sindh police said that more reshuffling in the District Malir is remained expected.
Meanwhile, a three member inquiry committee has submitted its final report to the IGP Sindh. In the report, the inquiry committee made SSP Rao Anwar and his team responsible for killing an abducted innocent man in an alleged encounter.
SSP Anwar had on January 13 had claimed the killings of at least four suspected militants during an encounter in Shah Latif area. Upon findings of the inquiry committee in which Rao Anwar and his team were found guilty, the family had registered a murder case against SSP Anwar and his team for killing Naseemullah in a fake encounter. Since then, SSP Rao Anwar and his team members remained on run while the police investigators remained fail to trace and arrest them.
