FIA Islamabad Zone partially housed in new building

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Islamabad Zone partially shifted its offices from Iqbal Town, Islamabad Highway to Sector G13 in Islamabad because its previous building was in a dilapidated condition. The Islamabad zone of FIA consists of six circles, including Anti-Corruption Circle Islamabad, Anti-Corruption Circle Gilgit, Cyber Crime Cercal Islamabad, Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad, Anti Human Trafficking Circle Islamabad and Anti Human Trafficking Circle Rawalpindi. However, only the office of Director Islamabad Zone, Anti-Corruption Circle Gilgit and Commercial Banking Circle Islamabad have been transferred in new building so far while the rest of the circles are still operating at the old building and it is expected that they will also be shifted in the next few months. Deputy Director FIA Ahmed Ali Affani, who is supervising the whole shifting process, while responding to Daily Times, said that they did not have enough space in new building yet to accommodate all offices as FIA have the possession of only a single floor at the moment. “It is expected that the remaining floors will be handed over to FIA in next two months, which are currently being used by Motorway Police,” he added. It is pertinent to mention here that one of the important circle of Islamabad zone, the Cyber Crime, will not be shifted in the new building but it is planned that it will be housed in the Headquarter of National Response Centre For Cyber Crime situated in the building of National Police Foundation in Mauve Area of Sector G-10/4. Most of the staffers and officers of FIA are satisfied with the aforementioned development, however, some of them have complained that the new building is far away from the main road while there is no public transport facility available in the area. The existing building is not fit for official use as it is situated in a slum area and it is also not suitable, especially for complainants, a visitor argued while adding: “Islamabad zone is not dealing only with the locals as people come from across the Rawalpindi division, who can easily reach Iqbal Town due to its close location with Faizabad, a bus terminal for intra city transportation.”
